This series marks my transition into the "empty nest"—a developmental shift documented through a layering of self-portrait drawings, body prints, and journalistic script.
These collage- drawings are part of my Feminist Tribute series that I started late in 2018 and continue to create including body prints and drawings.
When I began creating body prints, I primarily focused on my torso, as seen in Voice, exploring the torso as a central representation of presence and identity.
My work with body prints began as a formal dialogue with the legacy of Yves Klein, but quickly evolved into a deeply personal reclamation of agency following the transformative experience of motherhood.
My self portrait drawings of my sometimes pregnant nude form and body prints, using children’s media bring the sheltered or hyper-sexualized form to an appreciated, non-scrutinized position.
My Feminist Tribute series consists of playful self-portraits exploring womanhood through the lens of the body, honoring the women artists who form my creative lineage.
In this series of 5"x5" nude self-portraits, I explore the intersections of vulnerability and empowerment.
